Hello and thank you for visiting my site! I am an American abstract artist from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My diverse education includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, as well as years of design and studio art course work. My pieces are inspired by the human experience where I explore the power of color in art, as an expression and also an influence. Behind every piece is an intention to elevate, enliven or calm a space. My hope is to offer the collector a fabulous piece of art, to set a purposeful mood.

Like many artists, my creative story was born out of life’s trials.

My twin sister, Bethany and I were born prematurely. Sadly, we lost Bethany to a congenital heart defect. This tragedy blanketed my family in sadness. As a small child, I used color to wipe away the grief around me. My grandfather painted in oils and drew with charcoals. Sensing my inclination, he introduced me to these mediums at a young age. This early encouragement taught me to seek endless possibilities when creating. The freedom and solace I uncovered within my creativity was a blessing then and now.

One of my most powerful inspirations comes from getting outside in nature and exploring. In Western Pennsylvania I am witness to the beauty and color of the four season’s, where we visualize nature’s cycle of death and rebirth each year. Mother Nature’s ethereal beauty and healing magic has always captivated me. If you look carefully within my work, you will find natural textures reminiscent of gritty tree bark and wood grains. Earthy-warm browns, renewing-energetic greens, and healing-intuitive blues all have a place in nearly every piece I design, for the emotion I feel and hope to channel to the collector.

Methodology

In my work, I am often heavy handed with medium to create tooth and texture. For depth, I layer on sheer color, to set a thoughtful mood. Currently, I work in acrylic but am forever experimenting and learning as a forever student of my craft.

The juxtaposition between humanity’s incredible beauty and life’s tragedy is intentionally reminiscent within all of my work. Ultimately, I am an abstract artist and see my work as interpretations of feelings I intentionally convey to the collector.

A favorite quote of mine comes from Carl Jung, the father of psychology.

Jung said, “Who looks outside, dreams, Who looks inside, awakes.”
